English version:
The second mobility of the „Recipe for Activity – Volunteering for Seniors” project – Short Training Programs for Employees – took place from July 24-26, 2024.
The training took place in Krakow, and participants included the Foundation, including project partners from the Kwiatonowickie Stowarzyszenie Homini from Poland and Innovamentis from Italy.
The aim of the training was to expand knowledge and experience in social and civic competences, primarily promoting the idea of volunteering and the integration of people with disabilities in the local community.
The workshop topics included:
- Volunteering – challenges in working with seniors, identifying the problems and social needs of seniors;
- Overcoming architectural barriers – training for wheelchair users and a blind person;
- Techniques for assisting people with disabilities;
- „Time Travel” workshops using the Aging Simulator. Participants had the opportunity to experience what it’s like to be an older person. The simulator allows them to realistically experience the changes that occur in the body and senses as the body ages, such as: deterioration of vision (glaucoma), hearing (sound-cancelling headphones), slowed movements using a special vest, and reduced tactile sensation and hand precision;
- „Step Forward” Workshops – workshops on equality and opportunities for people with disabilities.
Workshop participants also went to the WOMAI Cracow Center for Science and Senses to see the „Into Darkness” exhibition.
This was a unique experience, as the exhibition took place in complete darkness.
For 60 minutes, participants could experience the world from a blind person’s perspective, creating in their imaginations images of what is invisible, but what can be heard, touched, and even felt.
The „Recipe for Activity – Volunteering for Seniors” project (no. 2023-2-PL01-KA210-ADU-000184777) is funded by the European Union.
